Cascade of Light was commissioned by the Southbank Centre for the Royal Festival Hall in London. It is one of a series of Studio Thadian Pillai light installations that explore concepts of consumption, waste and sustainability through the reuse of materials.
Slowing pedestrians walking on the south bank of the River Thames and crossing the Hungerford Bridge, the work creates an informal social space. Connecting its audience not only with their immediate riverside context, but also with each other, it exploits the potential for transformative spatial experience to be created by apparently functional routes of circulation.
