Thadian Pillai

Lead artist & principal designer

Thadian’s professional life has been spent in fine art, landscape design, horticulture and fashion.  Working across disciplines, he has evolved a highly distinctive understanding of space.  His early career in fashion haute couture established in him discernment for quality at the highest level, and an intimate understanding of the body's experience within a crafted volume of space.  Having gardened from childhood he had always been engaged with the natural world, and his attention subsequently turned to the experience of environmental space. The advanced study of landscape and garden design in England led later to the establishment of the Studio. 

Thadian has worked and exhibited with cultural organisations including Artichoke London, the Royal Festival Hall and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.  His fine art practice and singular vision for design provide the Studio’s creative direction.
